I’m not a great song writer, but I’m trying to learn. Here is my new Rule #1:
Don’t be afraid to just say it.
I think I try to find a cool or poetic or artsy way to say simple things sometimes. And in that search I lose what I’m saying! Everything cannot be a metaphor. So just say what you want your song to say.

You Reign - Hillsong United

Yours Is The Victory - Newspring Church (Kaleb White & Jeremy Barber)
What a great night. Great worship. Louie Giglio brought a great word. And I’m pretty sure that Tillman has never been that loud in worship. It was a great place to be last night. Thank you God!

One of my favorite songs in this set is Yours Is The Victory. It will be on the live album that Newspring Church is recording on Friday, October 30 at 7 pm. You totally need to be there so don’t miss it!
This has been online for a while. But I love it. And if you’ve seen it, just watch it again. This song is so good lyrically. I love it!
There is no right or wrong here….just want to hear opinions if you’d be so kind:
If life were not a constant battle (because we are all always battling something….sin, emotions, people, etc.) would it be better or worse?
You all should mark your calendars to buy to this new Phil Wickham album on November 17. That’s all I really have to say
I love limes. Lemons, not so much. Limes add a flavor explosion to anything. Lemons make me feel like I’m eating hand sanitizer.
You may be wondering, “Why would you even bother writing about lemons and limes, Tadd? Are you talking about Sprite?”
The answer to the latter is no. The answer to the first is because apparenty Life gives you lemons sometimes. So I consider the other times to be limes (because I prefer limes and consider them good). When we get lemons we tend to complain about our plight. When we get limes we forget the complaints and rejoice in the limey goodness.
Lately I’ve felt pretty lemony. Then I read this the other day:
In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other”
These are words from the wisest man to ever live (other than Jesus). The day of prosperity would be a lime day for me. And the day of adversity would be when the lemons are rolling in.
Knowing that both the lemons and the limes come from God is a little bittersweet for me, and that’s the real challenge I find. I read this and fully understand that I need to rejoice in all times through uncircumstantial joy. But this verse draws me to two feelings. At first, I am immediately drawn to God’s sovereignty in that he has made the lemon days. But then I find myself fighting bitterness and asking why He would even send the lemons. I’d like to say that I never question those times, and most of the time I don’t. But lately I’m fighting it.
Fighting every day. Fighting bitterness. Fighting adversity. Fighting lemons. Fighting for understanding. Fighting for wisdom.
Fighting for limes.
And I can say it’s good because I didn’t write it. What you’re getting here is a link to an article written by Jon Foreman (frontman of Switchfoot & singer/songwriter). I can admit to not being the biggest fan of Foreman’s stuff, that’s just personal preference though. I read this and it made me want to have a conversation with this guy.
Anyway, check out the article:
